Supermarket Flow Racks

Supermarket Flow Racks

Creform Corporation has delivered a flow rack, one of ten supermarket flow racks that will be connected in a straight line as part of a future pick-to-light system.

The flow racks will create a supermarket storage area ideal for picking kits of individual SKUs that make up a manufacturing kit.

  • The versatility of the flow rack could also be useful for general warehousing of pull-to-ship parts or even as an individual rack.

Steeply angled containers sit on the four supply levels with one return lane located at the bottom level. There are three flow lanes across each level, while the top two rows provide for easy identification and ease of component placement. The flow lanes are angled for reliable container flow and presentation while guaranteeing FIFO inventory management.

Each lane features fixed lane dividers to keep containers securely in the lane. Each of the rack’s levels can be repositioned or the entire flow rack can be customized with only simple tools while the vertical presentation face allows the levels to be easily moved up or down with the same 5mm hex wrench.

  • The dimensions of the flow rack pictured are 45″ W x 40″ D x 70″ T and it has a maximum load capacity of 1,200 lbs.

Low friction precision skate wheel conveyors allow for shallow flow lane angles suitable for both plastic returnable totes as well as cardboard boxes.  Intermediate support beam provides conveyor reinforcement. The flow rack features six casters for mobility, and each can be locked in place.

As with all Creform flow racks, higher capacity, sizes and configurations are possible. A wide variety of pipe colors are available for ESD applications, and

accessories can include information sheet holders, label holders, tool storage, hooks to hang tools and other supplies. Creform flow racks are suitable for warehouse or manufacturing plant use. They are available as a kit or an assembled structure or in the component form for a complete DIY solution.

The Creform system is used to create an array of material handling and efficiency enhancing devices and is a proven component in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs. The company partners with customers in developing and enhancing these programs.
