Creform Corporation, a manufacturer of unique products for material handling and commercial use, has designed and built a kitting cart for an aerospace parts manufacturer that puts a premium on protecting high-value parts that are associated with the industry.

Parts are typically those that not only are critical in terms of their cost but also the potential negative effect on the overall schedule if damaged or lost.

Since many of these parts cannot be quickly or economically replaced, they need to be handled carefully. The Creform cart keeps all the parts necessary to complete a task together on a single structure that can be positioned at the point-of-use. The organized layout and dedicated compartments of the cart ensure damage free handling and supports easy visual inventory management.  

The custom designed kitting cart is lightweight yet robust and suitable for kitting, assembly support, order picking, and more. The cart is moved from the kitting area to the point of assembly. Other alternative uses besides kitting are assembly line support and order picking.    

This cart features four pull-out HDPE drawers with a lip around the perimeter of each shelf to ensure that the product stays on the shelf during transit.

Three different shelves also utilize static HDPE shelving. While four levels of cantilever supports are utilized for hanging parts.  These supports are accessible from both sides of the cart.  Each pipe has a soft black cap installed for part protection.

The cart is also ideal for temporary storage of all the parts needed for a job. Four bolt-on swivel casters provide for easy rolling and positioning maneuverability. The cart’s dimensions are 72″ L x 36″ W X 84″ T and is designed to hold up to 500 lb.  

As with all Creform carts, higher capacity and custom cart sizes and configurations are possible with the Creform system of 28 mm, 32 mm and 42 mm plastic-coated steel pipes and metal joints. The color of the cart is blue gray color pipe and black metal joints, but a wide variety of pipe color options are available. Upgrade hitches are available for AGV or tugger delivery.

Accessories include hooks, label holders for shelf levels or even shelf positions, pockets for paperwork, writing surface with clip boards just to name a few.
