Registration Open for NCCCO’s Annual Industry Forum

National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators’ (NCCCO) Fourth Annual Industry Forum on Personnel Qualifications takes place Thursday, October 24, at the IUOE Training and Education Center in Texas. The event will run 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 905 Foley Rd, Crosby (Houston).

NCCCO Forums are provided free-of-charge through the generosity of our sponsors. Registration is required however.

The concept is designed to provide industry with insight and information about the latest developments in personnel certification, to promote dialogue on related issues, and to provide guidance to employers and others on applying certification effectively for maximum safety benefit.

Attendees will include contractors, crane and rigging companies, safety professionals, steel erectors, regulatory agencies, industry associations, insurance providers, and candidates.

The discussion will be led by Scott Ketcham, director of OSHA’s directorate of construction. With OSHA’s crane operator certification requirements now in full force, there’s never been a better time to discuss the certification, evaluation and qualification of crane operators.

Ketcham will provide the keynote presentation at the forum and head an outstanding line-up of crane industry experts who will discuss the latest topics and trends related to crane and rigging personnel qualifications.

By providing thorough, independent assessments of knowledge and skills, NCCCO aims to enhance lifting equipment safety, reduce workplace risk, improve performance records, stimulate training, and give due recognition to the professionals who work in, with, and around cranes.

Issues to be explored include: How Employers are Handling their Operator Evaluation Responsibilities; Addressing the “Most Similar” Certification Requirement; How State Marijuana Laws Impact Certification; What a Deep Dive into Test Data can tell us about Candidates; and How the NCCCO Foundation is aligning with other Workforce Development Initiatives to address the Skills Gap.

The forum will conclude with a panel discussion featuring a wide-ranging debate on subjects as diverse as: Does Virtual Reality Have a Role in High-Stakes Certification?; When Do Testing Accommodations UNlevel the Playing Field?; What Happens when a Certification Body loses its Accreditation?; Can We Prevent “Bad Actor” Certification Shopping; and much more. Come with your questions to challenge the experts!

Full agenda here.

Consider staying overnight and attending the 47th NCCCO Commissioners Meeting the following morning (Friday). Commissioners Meetings provide unparalleled insight into the test development and management process used by NCCCO, as well as status reports on all CCO certification projects underway.
