Engineered Rigging Hydraulic Gantry Crane

Engineered Rigging Hydraulic Gantry Crane

Today, Engineered Rigging announced the arrival of the first Officine CLP hydraulic gantry crane in the United States. Direct from Borgo San Dalmazzo, Italy, the CLP LG132 features a winning combination: a fully controlled machine with full capacity at maximum height and a compact footprint.

The gantry is one of nine models in CLP’s LG Series which has a 25-year proven track record in Europe. Engineered Rigging is the first to introduce North and South America to the Italian ingenuity and craftsmanship that are hallmarks of CLP’s equipment.

“Every model in the CLP LG Series was engineered to maintain its full load capacity at maximum height, a capability that sets these gantries apart. That performance, paired with their state-of-the art control package and modular design, makes them ideal for the rigorous demands of industrial facilities,” said Mike Beres, vice president of Engineered Rigging.

Size Matters

Recognizing that the dimensions of a gantry can make or break its feasibility for a project, CLP purpose-built the LG Series for tight clearances common in data centers, manufacturing plants and warehouses. The series features a bare, two-stage cylinder design engineered to maintain full rated capacity through both stages eliminating the capacity drop-off typical of second stage cylinder extensions. This design enables maximum lifting capacity at full height. The compact footprint ensures the entire system ships efficiently in a single trailer.

The LG Series can handle loads from 66 to 441 tons, yet the gantries are remarkably lightweight. The LG132, for example, weighs just 6,063 pounds (2,750 kg) per leg and can lift up to 143 tons (130 mt) on four legs, or 71.5 tons on two legs, to a height of up to 24.6 feet (7.5 m).

“The LG Series is a game changer when used inside warehouse and manufacturing environments which may be outfitted with overhead cranes that don’t have the capacity to handle increasing larger modular loads,” said Beres.

Smart Design, Zero Compromise

The LG Series’ advanced engineering does not end with its compact, lightweight features. The gantries in the series can be configured with four legs or two legs to adapt to the demands and budget of each project. In addition, every hydraulic line and internal control component is meticulously routed, resulting in an ultra-clean layout that maximizes safety and simplifies maintenance. Internally ported cylinders eliminate exposed hydraulic hoses, snag hazards and potential leak points, while a self-contained power pack in each leg ensures fast deployment, quiet performance and completely hose-free operation.

CLP purpose-built the LG Series for tight clearances common in data centers, manufacturing plants and warehouses.

In addition to its hose-free design, the LG Series has numerous safety features including electronic overload protection, a remote emergency stop and a side shift movement limit. Automated leveling ensures all towers move in unison during lifting and lowering and during horizontal travel keeping the load stable at every stage of the operation. Every model in the LG Series is built to comply with CE and ASME design standards.

Another advantage of CLP’s LG Series is utilization of components from two of the industrial world’s most trusted names: Bosch Rexroth hydraulics and Siemens electrical systems. Both brands are globally recognized for durability and reliability in demanding industrial and outdoor environments. These components are widely available and can be sourced quickly through established supply channels, avoiding the extended lead times typical of proprietary parts.

Precision Control at Every Stage of the Lift

Each LG Series gantry ships with two ergonomic LCD radio remotes that give operators precise, synchronized control of the entire operation. The intuitive remote allows a single person to manage the gantry from a safe distance, with real-time metrics displaying lift height, load weight and system health throughout the lift.

The latest LG Series models also feature intelligent accessory recognition and built-in remote diagnostics via a cellular connection or LAN connection allowing CLP and Engineered Rigging to troubleshoot quickly, identifying and resolving issues before they become jobsite delays.

“When you’re lifting heavy loads in a tight space, the last thing you want is to second guess your equipment. CLP’s LG Series gives operators the information they need. It’s literally at their fingertips, so they can focus on the lift and not the unknowns,” said Jay Holt, P.E. & P.M.P., director of engineering and assets at Engineered Rigging.

Options for Every Application, Responsive Support

No two heavy lifts are alike. The weight, geometry and placement requirements of each load, combined with the physical constraints of the job site, dictate the exact equipment needed. By adding the full CLP lineup to its existing fleet of Enerpac gantries, Engineered Rigging now offers a broad range of telescopic boom and bare-cylinder options with load capacities ranging from 40 to 1,178 tons.

Recognizing that equipment selection is the foundation for every successful lift, Engineered Rigging’s experts will help clients identify the make and model best suited for their needs. In addition, the company provides comprehensive, hands-on training, expert technical support and time-saving domestic fabrication of compatible gantry accessories, including track and beams, for both the CLP and Enerpac lines.

Live Demonstration

Engineered Rigging will provide media and industry guests with a firsthand look at a CLP gantry’s features and capabilities by conducting demonstrations during the company’s annual Heavy Lifting Showcase on October 6 and 7 in Russellville, Ark. The event affords engineers, contractors, plant managers and rigging specialists an opportunity to experience leading-edge rigging and specialized transport technologies from around the globe. The Showcase is free to attend, however advance registration is required at https://engineeredrigging.com/heavy-lift-showcase/.
