Swisslog Prepares for ProMat

Swisslog will demonstrate a variety of scalable, future-ready solutions designed to give customers the flexibility to meet changing demands at Booth S2012 at ProMat show, which takes place 3-6 April 2017 at McCormick Place, Chicago. Software, smart data and flexible, scalable automation solutions will all be featured as part of Swisslog’s strategic initiative to help companies keep pace with Industry 4.0.

Experience innovations

The Swisslog booth will feature a comprehensive, dynamic exhibit where visitors can experience for themselves just how efficiently different intralogistics technologies like Automated Item Pick (AIP), CycloneCarrier and PowerStore shuttle systems, and goods-to-person systems AutoStore and CarryPick can work together in an orchestrated fashion to deliver exceptional customer value.

For the first time, the leading automation expert for robot-based and data driven intralogistic solutions will be presenting its SynQ software platform. As the next generation of software beyond Swisslog’s WM 6, SynQ – short for Synchronized Intelligence – is a flexible and adaptable cloud-enabled software that intelligently connects and synchronizes automation equipment, robotics, people and processes. The software’s ability to adapt to future technology will see users benefit from a future-proof operation, where additional functionality can be securely added, helping businesses capitalize on the opportunities emerging as Industry 4.0 and the Internet of things evolves.

Robotics highlight: Automated Item Pick

Swisslog’s new AIP is a special highlight of the Swisslog exhibit. AIP stands for Automated Item Pick, a robotics application for picking single items. Developed from prototypes and initial applications, this innovative technology from Swisslog and parent company KUKA, one of the world’s largest robotics companies, makes it possible to pick both identical and different products from storage. The new AIP uses a 2D/3D vision system that detects the dimensions of the various objects and directs the gripper technology accordingly. AIP is designed to work hand-in-hand with humans as well as independently.

From big data to smart data

In addition to new automation technologies, Swisslog’s ProMat exhibit will reflect the company’s increasing focus on digitalization and data. Swisslog offers detailed, software-based analysis that turns big data into smart data, which visitors will be able to see for themselves in the form of a sophisticated Condition Monitoring application. Monitoring provides the basis for a continuous improvement process in logistics and paves the way for Industry 4.0.

Leading innovation and flexibility in intralogistics

Swisslog’s expertise in intelligent networking and automating the flow of goods are the foundations for innovation in warehouse logistics,” commented Markus Schmidt, President of Swisslog’s Warehouse & Distribution Solutions for the Americas. “But the true drivers of innovation are the constantly changing demands of the market. They require that companies be not only agile but increasingly flexible. Together with KUKA, Swisslog is leading the way in robotics and data-driven solutions throughout intralogistics. We’re looking forward to introducing visitors to the world of networked warehouse logistics.”
