CICB Sponsors Lift & Move USA

To educate the next workforce generation on the careers available in the crane and rigging industry, Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB) is sponsoring Lift & Move USA in Baton Rouge on November 15, 2017. CICB has also partnered with the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Foundation in providing grants to individuals seeking training and certification as a Crane Operator or as a Rigger.

Lift & Move USA is a one-day conference promoting crane, rigging, and specialized transport careers aimed at young people and military veterans., the next generation of workforce. The program was organized in 2015 by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA), the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO), and industry publisher KHL Group, owners of American Cranes & Transport magazine.

CICB is proud, to once again, sponsor this event and help brings awareness of the rewarding careers available in the crane and rigging industry. For every five retirees, there is only one to replace them. With this knowledge, CICB has recently established the first and only career school in the Houston area that is approved and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission Career Schools and Colleges to train and certify individuals as crane operators and riggers. To further support endeavors, CICB has partnered with the SC&R Foundation, whom awards grants to individuals wishing to pursue positions in the specialized transportation, crane, and rigging fields.

Lift & Move USA is targeted at young people considering their future careers, including students in high school and those attending community and technical colleges.

“The current labor shortage is obvious in the crane and rigging field, and it is our duty and obligation to inform our youth about opportunities available for their future,” said Billy Cook, CICB’s Director of Sales. “We’re excited to play a part in educating and encouraging individuals pursuing career opportunities in challenging and rewarding fields.”

The event will be held in Baton Rouge, LA on November 15, 2017, and will consist of hands-on rotating workshops and testimonials from workers who have first-hand experience. This is a national careers initiative to address the surplus of jobs, show that roles can be well paid, and that there is an alternative to college and university degrees. More than 2,500 individuals have attended these events so far. The conference is free to attend, but requires pre-registration.
