Engineered Rigging Adds Motorized Dolly

Moving oversized machinery or materials indoors can be especially challenging when faced with narrow corridors, crowded pathways and tight turns. In these conditions, a crane or forklift simply is not an option. Engineered Rigging has purchased a Foxtrot SOLO 20 motorized dolly kit designed to move heavy loads no matter how confined the environment. The SOLO 20 robotic skate is the latest addition to Engineered Rigging’s rental fleet.

“We are excited to add Foxtrot’s innovative motorized dolly to our array of machinery moving solutions. This tool is small in stature but packed with features to relocate or install equipment safely and efficiently,” said Mike Beres, vice president of Engineered Rigging.

Power, Portability and Productivity

With a powerful load capacity up to 20 tons, the Foxtrot SOLO 20 moves equipment with precision and ease at speeds up to 26 feet per minute. Weighing 220 pounds, significantly lighter than comparable equipment, the motorized dolly is easy to transport and position. Integrated lifting lugs facilitate safe handling and expedite setup. Using two toe jacks, an operator can lift the load, slide the SOLO 20 robotic dolly and SK20 follower skates underneath, and begin operation.

To further optimize productivity, the on-board lithium battery runs up to six hours, charges in three hours, and can be swapped under load to minimize downtime.

The construction of the SOLO 20 includes large six-inch non-marking wheels which support use over floor gaps of up to one inch and allow for threshold crossings of heights up to 3/8 inch. The dolly’s limited rolling resistance results in smooth movement across shop floors in manufacturing, power generation and industrial plants.

Safety First

The SOLO 20 has several key safety features including a certified emergency stop and a signaling horn. The cord-free battery operation and wireless remote controller eliminate tripping hazards to further enhance jobsite safety. In addition, the wireless remote control is easy to use and gives the operator better visibility and maneuverability when moving a heavy load.

What’s in the Box?

Engineered Rigging’s worksite-ready SOLO 20 bare rental kit includes a robotic dolly, two SK20 follower skates with adjustable alignment bar, a rugged remote controller, large saddle plate, two lithium batteries, magnetic safety blocks, and a 110-volt battery charger. The worksite box (see photo) features a dedicated spot for each component, making it easy to transport the kit to and from a jobsite.

“Upon delivery, clients will find everything they need to begin work immediately. A lot of thought went into the packaging to make it rental friendly,” said Beres.

Rental of the SOLO 20 kit includes Engineered Rigging’s performance guarantee which ensures every asset in the company’s fleet is a best-in-class product that is properly stored, meticulously maintained, thoroughly cleaned, inspected and rigorously tested before shipment.
