New Military Veteran Workforce Research

How can the crane industry better understand and support military veterans working in or considering a career in the crane industry? To answer this important question the NCCCO Foundation conducted veteran-focused research in collaboration with SmallBox Consulting. The recently published report examines four key questions:

  1. How do military veterans find their career in cranes?
  2. What makes veterans a good fit for careers in the crane industry?
  3. What makes the crane industry a good fit for veterans?
  4. What challenges do veterans face in the civilian workforce?

“The new research reinforces that veterans represent an untapped source of high-quality potential employees and that the crane industry provides a unique environment that is a very good fit for the skills and values of veterans,” said T.J. Cantwell, Executive Director of the NCCCO Foundation.

“Recruiting more veterans and learning ways to better communicate and reach them is truly a win-win situation for everyone,” Cantwell continued.

The NCCCO Foundation also held a webinar providing highlights of the research findings and featured veteran speakers who are familiar with assisting veterans transitioning into the crane industry.

The panel also included a Marine Corps veteran with 14 years of experience as a crane operator who offered his advice to veterans seeking employment in the crane industry and companies looking for quality veterans to hire.
