The qualifications of crane operators and those who work with and around lifting equipment will once again be the focus of this fall\u2019s NCCCO<\/a> Foundation\u00a0Industry Forum<\/a> on Personnel Qualifications.<\/p>\n

Now in its sixth year, the Forum<\/a> is scheduled for Thursday, November 11, 2021 as a hybrid event to be held in person in Arlington, VA (Washington, DC) as well as via Zoom.<\/p>\n

For the third year in a row, Scott Ketcham, Director of OSHA\u2019s Directorate of Construction, will provide the keynote address at the event which this year is generously sponsored by Industrial Training International (ITI)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Forum<\/a>\u00a0will build on the success of previous events and focus on the latest developments in regulations and best industry practices as they pertain to the qualifications of personnel working in, with, and around cranes and other types of lifting equipment.<\/p>\n

NCCCO was formed in January 1995 as a non-profit organization with its mission to develop effective performance standards for safe crane operation to assist all segments of general industry and construction.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cIn light of the imminent publication of OSHA\u2019s Compliance Directive on Crane Operator Qualifications, we anticipate the presentation by Director Ketcham to be especially popular,\u201d said NCCCO<\/a> Foundation CEO, Graham Brent.<\/p>\n

Other sessions will focus on recent and upcoming changes to B30 standards, compliance assistance with the OSHA crane rule, demographic trends (age, experience, training) of crane operators, veterans\u2019 transition, telecommunications personnel qualifications, marketing tips for employers of certified operators, and a rundown of the new certification programs that are being readied for launch.<\/p>\n

The last\u00a0Forum<\/a>\u00a0was held in 2020 as a virtual event and attracted registrations of over 300 safety and construction professionals, three times higher than the previous record set in 2019.\u00a0 A survey of attendees\u2019 experience was highly positive.<\/p>\n

\u201cResponse to the last\u00a0Forum<\/a>\u00a0was exceptional,\u201d said Brent, \u201cwith fully 94% of delegates rating the event as meeting or exceeding their expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n

A hallmark of past events has been their fast-paced and varied presentations\u2014and this year is no exception.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pack a lot into a four-hour window,\u201d said Brent.\u00a0\u201cWith a dozen or so presentations, focusing on a variety of safety, personnel qualifications and workplace development issues, there\u2019s always something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
