FAD Equipment Store has become the first U.S.-based online supplier to stock Crosby\u2019s range of BlokCam camera and alert systems for tower and mobile cranes.<\/p>\n

These advanced systems provide operators with critical visual and audio capabilities, direct from the crane hook to the cab, enabling safer and more productive lifting operations. BlokCorp, creator of BlokCam, was acquired by lead FAD Equipment Store vendor The Crosby Group this spring. The newly-branded Crosby BlokCam products are in stock and ready for shipment.<\/p>\n

The X2 and M3 systems have delivered clear enhancement of load handling in a number of sectors, most notably construction and renewable energy. The products, principally for tower and mobile cranes, were recently joined by BlokAlert, an audio \/ visual warning system to alert crane operators when workers are in harm\u2019s way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

David Ayling, president at FAD Equipment Store, said: \u201cWe are increasingly being recognized as a supplier of Crosby\u2019s iconic range of lifting and rigging hardware. Adding its new cameras to a catalog that already includes Crosby Straightpoint\u2019s state-of-the-art load cells, further validates our status as a supplier of cutting-edge product and technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

The X2 was the industry\u2019s first fully modular system compatible with tower cranes. It uses high-powered neodymium magnets and boasts a raft of features, including an auto-focus lens that always gives clear views of the load and surrounding area beneath the hook (HD 1080p resolution). Unlike other systems on the market, it also offers users audio from the sensor to the cab. Optional single and split-screen modes can be provided with additional cameras. The system can record on loop for up to 30 days.\"\"<\/p>\n

The M3, meanwhile, was the first fully modular camera for telescopic and mobile cranes, mainly because it can be installed in just five minutes. Many of the standout features of the X2 are carried over, while an all-in-one display combines the monitor, repeater and processor in a purpose-built, fast-fit system. The M3 has a HD display with built in speakers, automatic brightness control, less than 0.2 seconds of latency and multi-voltage AC and DC inputs.<\/p>\n

BlokAlert is a wireless, audio-visual warning system that can be quickly and easily deployed to the hook block of a crane. When activated by the lifting crew, the BlokAlert receiver gives out a recognizable audio-visual signal that can be seen and heard by site personnel in proximity to the hook block or load.<\/p>\n

Ayling added: \u201cMany regulating authorities are already looking at mandating crane camera systems and this is cultural change we want to be part of. Given the inherent benefits of camera systems and the ease with which they can be installed, we anticipate their wider utilization, even in the special transport sector\u2014another industry where our products, such as tie-downs, are widely applied. It\u2019s true that a vertical lift doesn\u2019t have to be present for a camera system to deliver safety benefits.
