AccessPoint from Whiting Passport will be showcased by manufacturer Whiting Corporation<\/a> at the ProMat trade show<\/a> (booth 4836), which takes place 23-26 March at Chicago\u2019s McCormick Place.<\/p>\n

The universal access control system uses smart card technology to control access to a huge variety of mobile and fixed plant equipment used by the material handling and logistics sector.<\/p>\n

AccessPoint protects workers, assets, production and logistics flow by using smart card technology to prevent unauthorized operators from using high risk or critical equipment. The simply installed and easily operated system physically prevents fixed and mobile machinery from being used by unauthorized employees. It doesn’t require a network connection, saving companies in installation and administration costs. It also pays for itself by easing compliance with safety regiments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis innovative system is an inexpensive, easy-to-use way to significantly reduce the risks of equipment misuse that compromises the safety of entire plant operations,\u201d said Joel Phelps, Whiting Passport product manager.<\/p>\n

AccessPoint requires users to have current and appropriate \u2018tickets\u2019, including qualifications, accreditation, training and\/or inductions in order to operate the equipment. It records who uses the equipment, which creates and maintains a culture of operator accountability and typically improves availability.\"image004\"<\/a><\/p>\n

AccessPoint for vehicles can be fitted to any vehicle with an on-off button, including forklifts, diggers, trucks and primary production and civil engineering implements.<\/p>\n
