Hand tool businesses Gearwrench, Crescent, Wiss, and Lufkin are donating $220,000 in tools to help rebuild communities impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.\u00a0In addition, parent company Apex Tool Group LLC has donated the use of a 350,000 sq. ft. warehouse for two months\u2014valued at $120,000\u2014to disaster relief nonprofit Trusted World as a sorting and staging headquarters for Harvey donations from around the country.<\/p>\n

Apex Tool Group<\/a> associates at the company\u2019s Apex, North Carolina distribution center are proud to be shipping thousands of demolition and construction tools to the Houston Community ToolBank to be used in recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.\u00a0Just some of the 50-plus pallets of tools can be seen behind our associates, with the Harvey relief tool shipment representing an in-kind donation valued at $110K. Apex Tool Group<\/a>\u2019s total in-kind donation to Harvey and Irma relief organizations is $340K.<\/p>\n

Thousands of demolition and construction hand tools were shipped from the company\u2019s Apex, North Carolina distribution center to the Houston Community ToolBank, a nonprofit that is an affiliate of ToolBank USA.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur associates as well as our businesses are committed to building today\u2019s communities, building tomorrow\u2019s skills, and rebuilding in times of need,\u201d said Jim Roberts, CEO, Apex Tool Group<\/a>. \u201cWhile our own facilities were not impacted by the devastation of Hurricanes Harvey or Irma, putting our tools and resources in the hands of local nonprofits will \u00a0help accelerate clean up and restoration efforts.\u00a0Our donations, combined with the efforts of many volunteers, will help restore these communities as quickly as possible.\u00a0Our thoughts are with all who have been impacted by these catastrophic events.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Houston, as soon as floodwaters receded \u201cthousands of volunteers began using our tool inventory to clean up, repair, and rebuild neighborhoods devastated by Hurricane Harvey,\u201d said Erika Hornsey, executive director, Houston Community ToolBank.\u00a0Apex Tool Group<\/a>\u2019s donation\u2014approximately $110,000 in tools\u2014will \u201censure that even more community groups can help residents get back on their feet from the storm\u2019s devastation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next week, Atlanta-based ToolBank USA will also receive an equal donation of demolition and construction tools to be used by its mobile relief efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.\u00a0 \u201cAfter natural disasters, we send a semi-trailer of tools and equipment to affected areas.\u00a0Once on the ground, we spend weeks partnering with local qualified nonprofits and their volunteers,\u201d said ToolBank USA CEO Alan Harrison.\u00a0\u201cThe need in Florida is huge, and this donation will allow us to assist people and communities we might otherwise not reach, but who need help now. \u00a0We are grateful for Apex Tool Group\u2019s assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, on September 1, Apex Tool Group<\/a> opened the doors to its 350,000 square foot currently unused warehouse in Garland, Texas, allowing disaster services nonprofit Trusted World to take over the facility for a herculean \u201csort, store, stage and ship effort for Hurricane Harvey victims,\u201d said Michael Garrett, CEO, Trusted World.<\/p>\n
