The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA)<\/a> has completed all requirements for full NCCER endorsement as a provider of Rigger, Signal Person and Mobile Crane Operator Certifications and Credentials.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese certifications complement SEAA<\/a>\/NCCER Ironworker Craft Training, as many ironworkers must also be qualified to perform rigging, signaling, or crane operation tasks,\u201d said Tim Eldridge, SEAA<\/a> Craft Training and Assessment Coordinator and President of Education Services Unlimited.<\/p>\n

SEAA<\/a> partnered with NCCER to develop and initiate the SEAA<\/a> Ironworker Craft Training Program in March 2014. In just two years the program has grown from concept, to a network of 14 Training Units and Assessment Sites in 12 states.<\/p>\n

In September, Schulz Iron Works, Raleigh, N.C., donated people and equipment for SEAA\u2019s evaluation as an NCCER-endorsed provider of rigger, signal person, and crane operator training and assessments.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cEmployers are joining in the effort to create a supply of qualified ironworkers that will meet the demands of a workforce that has been on the decline for many years,\u201d said Josh Cilley, President of SEAA<\/a>. The SEAA<\/a> program, in partnership with NCCER, is dedicated to providing an industry recognized curriculum that meets or exceeds national standards.<\/p>\n

Since September 2016, SEAA<\/a> is now able to offer Rigger, Signal Person, and Mobile Crane Operator certifications and credentials, in addition to Ironworker Levels 1-2-3, through all existing and future SEAA training and assessment sites.<\/p>\n

NCCER\u2019s Rigger and Signal Person Certification Program consists of assessments and practical examinations that meet or exceed current ASME B30 consensus safety standards and OSHA 29 CFR part 1926 subpart CC. Rigger & Signal Person Endorsed Accredited Assessment Centers are able to deliver the certification program (assessments and practical examinations) to their employees\/membership using their own equipment as personnel are available and time permits.<\/p>\n

In addition, SEAA<\/a>\u2019s Ironworker Apprenticeship meets U.S. Department of Labor standards, providing SEAA<\/a> members with a tool to create and register formal training programs in accordance with Federal and State government requirements. Participation in registered apprenticeship programs allows merit shop contractors the ability to utilize government approved apprenticeship wage rates on Davis Bacon Wage Projects.<\/p>\n
