Loos & Co. Inc.<\/a> has been selected to participate in the Quiet Corner Innovation Cluster (QCIC), created to enable economic growth in rural Eastern Connecticut, otherwise known as Connecticut\u2019s Quiet Corner. It also welcomed a visited from Congressman Joe Courtney.<\/p>\n

The QCIC targets small and medium sized technology and manufacturing organizations to foster growth and innovation within those companies. With partners like University of Connecticut (UConn), the Economic Development Agency and Connecticut Innovations (CI), the QCIC draws upon its resources in order to provide access to the industry\u2019s latest technology. Through the use of this technology, manufacturers, like Loos<\/a>, will have access to state-of-the-art research and development technology.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to be chosen as the first manufacturer to partner with QCIC,\u201d said Robert Davis, vice president of sales and marketing at Loos & Co. Inc.<\/a> \u201cOur visit with Congressman Courtney provided us the opportunity to show him and the rest of the team how well positioned we are to grow well into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Congressman Joe Courtney serves Connecticut\u2019s second district in order to continue growing the local economy. Together with QCIC, they are putting resources and processes in place to drive innovation and foster entrepreneurial efforts. These resources will be used by local businesses to make strides towards targeted growth areas.<\/p>\n

The QCIC will create an innovation network to drive economic development in rural Eastern Connecticut. Comprised of New London, Tolland, and Windham counties, Connecticut\u2019s Quiet Corner has been adversely impacted by high unemployment rates, stemming in large part from the stagnation or demise of legacy manufacturers.<\/p>\n

The QCIC leverages UConn\u2019s extensive science and technology resources, including innovation and entrepreneurship infrastructure through the UConn Technology Park.<\/p>\n
