Konecranes<\/a> has received another order for six Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from GCT Canada Limited Partnership for its GCT Deltaport facility located in Port Metro Vancouver, Canada. The cranes will be delivered fully-erect in the winter of 2017. When these cranes are commissioned and working, GCT Deltaport will operate a fleet of 12 Konecranes RTGs.<\/p>\n

The CSA-approved, hydraulics-free Konecranes<\/a> RTGs in this repeat order are identical to the RTGs in the first order: 16-wheel machines with a lifting capacity of 40 LT, lifting 1-over-5 high and 7-plus-truck lane wide. They will be equipped with a Tier 4f diesel genset and Konecranes\u2019 Diesel Fuel Saver technology. The RTGs will also be equipped with Konecranes\u2019 Active Load Control system, which eliminates container sway to increase container handling performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter extensive investigation of RTG suppliers and configurations, Konecranes<\/a>\u2019 16-wheel RTGs were selected. We believe the solution offers our operations the optimal balance of safety, performance, and quality to best service our customers,\u201d said Eric Waltz, president of GCT Canada.<\/p>\n

Each Konecranes<\/a> RTG will have a Crane Management System (CMS) that will be linked with a Remote CMS system in GCT Deltaport\u2019s central maintenance building. This will allow simultaneous monitoring of all the cranes with implications for improving maintenance. Additional hardware will be installed in the cranes to enable communication between the cranes and GCT Deltaport\u2019s Terminal Operating System (TOS).<\/p>\n
