{"id":12916,"date":"2024-03-15T01:31:12","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T01:31:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/?p=12916"},"modified":"2024-03-05T14:38:18","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T14:38:18","slug":"kalmar-at-pier-400-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/kalmar-at-pier-400-la\/","title":{"rendered":"Kalmar at Pier 400 LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kalmar, part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/item\/cargotec\/\">Cargotec<\/a>, has signed a contract with APM Terminals Pier 400 Los Angeles to supply two new Kalmar electric AutoStrads and to undertake a retrofit of two existing hybrid straddle carriers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The new and retrofitted units will be part of APM Terminal\u2019s $60M electrification pilot.<\/li>\n<li>The large order was booked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/item\/cargotec\/\">Cargotec<\/a>\u2019s Q1 2024 order intake, and the pilot is scheduled to commence in Q4 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWith this pilot we look to gain greater understanding of how to convert our existing hybrid equipment fleet to fully electric with our onsite mechanic workforce,\u201d said Jon Poelma, managing director of APM Terminals Pier 400.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElectrifying straddle carriers is an essential task for us. We\u2019re confident they will be able to meet the significant operational demands of the terminal.
