See up close how the Port of Long Beach is working to become the world\u2019s first zero-emissions<\/a> seaport at the \u201cGreen Port Fair\u201d from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.<\/p>\n

The free event will feature the new \u201cclean machines\u201d of cargo movement, environmental information booths, a children\u2019s train ride and other activities, \u201980s and \u201990s cover band Knyght Ryder, food, and a beer and wine garden.<\/p>\n

The public is invited to spend the afternoon in the port, enjoying family-friendly displays, entertainment, fun and the opportunity to learn more about the nation\u2019s second-busiest seaport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome everyone to come by the Green Port Fair and see what we are doing every day to protect the community\u2019s health and improve air quality by aiming to reduce and eventually eliminate all emissions,\u201d said Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an occasion for residents to learn about their port and see what we\u2019ve been working on to improve air quality and safeguard the environment,\u201d said Long Beach Harbor Commission President Sharon L. Weissman. \u201cWe are making international trade more environmentally sustainable and leading the industry toward a zero-emissions future.\u201d<\/p>\n
