{"id":10722,"date":"2022-09-26T14:01:03","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T14:01:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/?p=10722"},"modified":"2022-09-26T14:01:03","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T14:01:03","slug":"alan-activates-for-hurricane-ian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/alan-activates-for-hurricane-ian\/","title":{"rendered":"ALAN Activates For Hurricane Ian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Hurricane Ian intensifies, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is urging Florida and Gulf Coast residents to prepare \u2013 and asking members of the logistics community who aren\u2019t located near the storm\u2019s path to be ready to help.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the next few days Hurricane Ian has the potential to deliver high winds, strong rains and a significant storm surge across many parts of Florida,\u201d said Kathy Fulton, ALAN\u2019s Executive Director.\u00a0\u201cWe are mobilizing accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Late last week, ALAN began what Fulton calls the preparedness stage of the disaster relief organization\u2019s storm activation, which includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing pre-storm information about the storm\u2019s latest path and supply chain impacts via its Supply Chain Intelligence Center, which can be accessed for free at www.alanaid.org\/map.<\/li>\n<li>Updating ALAN\u2019s Disaster Micro-site with helpful links for those who are located in Hurricane Ian\u2019s cone of concern. That site is also where ALAN will share any specific requests for logistics assistance that it receives as a result of the storm.<\/li>\n<li>Checking in with members of the non-profit and disaster relief community to find out what resources they anticipate needing<\/li>\n<li>Working closely with government and industry officials to share critical disaster and supply chain information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ALAN\u2019s response relief efforts \u2013 which include fielding and filling specific requests for logistics help \u2013 will commence later this week if the storm\u2019s strength and path continue as predicted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of our requests for assistance arrive after a hurricane or tropical storm has hit,\u201d said Fulton.\u00a0 \u201cThat\u2019s because each storm winds up having very different outcomes and pain points.\u00a0 And you really can\u2019t predict what those will be \u2013 and where relief organizations will require supply chain assistance the most \u2013 until after the storm has moved through.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8450\" style=\"width: 972px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8450\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"962\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58.png 962w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-768x431.png 768w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-400x225.png 400w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-440x247.png 440w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-650x365.png 650w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-579x325.png 579w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Screenshot-2020-10-19-at-11.54.58-677x380.png 677w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8450\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ALAN is an industry-wide organization that exists to provide supply chain assistance to disaster relief organizations (and other non-profits).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As always, Fulton said that ALAN hopes these measures will prove to be merely precautionary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the years we\u2019ve seen some potentially catastrophic hurricanes that have turned into relatively minor events while others have morphed into far more deadly and destructive events than expected,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are praying that Hurricane Ian will turn out to be the former.\u00a0 However if it isn\u2019t, we want people to remember that ALAN is here to help \u2013 and to do everything in their power to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Hurricane Ian intensifies, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is urging Florida and Gulf Coast residents to prepare \u2013 and asking members of the logistics community who aren\u2019t located near the storm\u2019s path to be ready to help. \u201cOver the next few days Hurricane Ian has the potential to deliver high winds, strong rains&#8230;
