(TGN) for their greenfield terminal being built in\u00a0Antofagasta region, city of Mejillones, Chile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The order was booked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/item\/cargotec\/\">Cargotec<\/a>\u2019s Q3 2021\u00a0order intake, and the operational go live of the system is estimated to be completed in Q4 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TGN operates a multi-purpose terminal in Mejillones Bay at the heart of Chile\u2019s mining region, 1400 km from Santiago and 65 km from Antofagasta. To respond to the growing demand in the region, TGN is constructing a new container terminal in Antofagasta, which will feature an automated rail-mounted gantry crane system that will be enhanced with Kalmar SmartPort solutions to improve the efficiency and performance of the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>After the go-live, the terminal will benefit from three Kalmar SmartPort solutions designed to improve efficiency, security and productivity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SmartMap<\/strong>, which enables real-time and historical visualisation of equipment location and container routing in the yard.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SmartTrucks<\/strong>, which automatically tracks the road truck to ensure compliance with the work instruction and to increase crane productivity when the truck arrives at the point of work<\/li>\n<li><strong>SmartLane<\/strong>, which will use RFID tags placed on a closed loop of containers to automatically register and track the containers as they enter or leave the terminal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The SmartPort products will be fully integrated with the gate operating system and Navis N4 terminal operating system at the terminal.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10310\" style=\"width: 1290px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10310\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50.png 1280w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-768x430.png 768w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-400x224.png 400w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-440x246.png 440w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-650x364.png 650w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-580x325.png 580w, https:\/\/www.findadistributor.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-10-at-14.30.50-678x380.png 678w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10310\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">TGN is constructing a new container terminal in Antofagasta, which will feature an automated rail-mounted gantry crane system that will be enhanced with Kalmar SmartPort solutions.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Eduardo Simian, Project Manager, TGN: \u201cWe chose Kalmar SmartPort solutions because of Kalmar\u2019s ability to offer a solution that will be a key part of the automated container movement through the port.
